Hi John. Nice to see you! I'm not sure what you need to edit in your profile to allow you to edit posts. I'll do a little more digging and see if I can work out what's going on. Hopefully I'll have an answer for you when you get back. In the meantime, have a great weekend.

I am sorry for any misunderstanding I was under the impression that editing was obtained via Profile from something said previously, obviously that is not so All I want to do is to delete the first splayed entry of Civil War and then make a few alterations to the the nice tidy edition that follows. In a nutshell How can I amend or delete a thread?

As far as I can make out, you should be able to edit your posts now that you have a full profile with an avatar - just be sure to log in. I'm going to check on what you can see as a member. I think I have more tools at my disposal because I'm an administrator, which is making it tricky to know how to guide you. I'll get back to you later on this, hopefully with a definitive answer - there's confidence for you!

This is a screenshot showing where your edit button should be. This will only show if you are logged in, and you will only be able to edit your own posts:

Thanks but it just is not there. I have 3 buttons after logging in (only 2 prior)These are Quote , thumbs up, and post options. NO EDIT as shown above Have looked at REgistration ,apparently an alternative to LOGGING IN BUT DID NOT GET ANYWHERE AS IT WOULD NOT ACCEPT A USER NAME

Is this a clue or could it be the Eureka moment ! I see the above which (appears I managed to send in duplicate) are both EDITABLE. When sending Civil war I was unaware at that time of the need to LOG ON again,-- having already logged on to the site. So there may be no Edit facility for that reason alone If so then I guess the best thing to do there is to delete CW and put on again. ..Is this attainable?
later note YES IT WORKS On Storm new entry LOGGED IN PROPERLY

What is it you wanted to do with it? It may be that it's been up a while so you won't be able to make the changes, but I probably can if I log in using the admin account.

Primarily I would like to delete the first spread-out and therefore untidy version of Civil War, leaving the second of course. Secondly it would be nice to have access to correct imperfections or inaccuracies
The problem being that I do not think EDIT is ever available if you insert something on the site before LOGGING IN as mentioned above which was my error here and with earlier threads Is the only solution therefore to delete and start again?

You must be logged in to access the edit and other tools. When you aren't logged in, Proboards assign the ghostly avatar to any posts you put up, as with your previous post. If you're logged in you should be able to go back and edit your previous posts, though I'm not sure about deleting entire ones, there must be a way, I shall look into it. If you click edit on the post you want to rework it should open up that post as though you were just creating it. You can then go through it and make the necessary changes and click save changes.

I just deleted a post! Okay, once you've logged in, you should see a thumbs up to the right of the Edit button and then a button with a sort of cog and a drop down arrow. Go to the post you want to delete and click the cog button. A list will appear. Click 'Select Post', then click 'Delete Post'. You will then have a window appear that seems to be a double check that you really want to delete the post. Click 'Delete Post' at the bottom, and your post should be gone for all time, never to be seen again, so be careful to make sure you're on the right post!
I think I used the word 'post' eight times in that paragraph - that could be a record.

No, you must be logged in to do any editing.
Ah, I see what you mean. No, a non logged in post can only be edited by a moderator, so if you have one like that, let me know what you want doing and I'll do it for you!
