Hi Now for something completely different
Postal past times
Cheeks aglow and bare of leg
prancing on his delivery lap
Posty's doing morning calls.
Grappling at each letter flap;
-Unbid mail to carpet falls.
I follow covertly as he goes
adopting best strategy stance
stalking him from gate to gate
affecting a casual insouciance.
-Then pouncing to appropriate.
But fortune today is fickle
I have little to take back.
But of course the hunt is all,
as rival Fred across the track
-waves at me a wonder haul.
Enviously, I stop to admire,
a true rarity around our ways;
this awesome find by Fred.
Tho' I have two neat greys,
-he's found a large mint red !
Our hunting keeps us nimble
makes adventurous every walk.
till all meet at the Plough,
where, spurning sad small talk
-Deep interests claim us now.
To-day we debate and select
a name for our close coterie.
“Banded brothers”, is trite,
best “Bandloop” or “banderee”
-“Rubber freaks” can't be right.

That's definitely completely different. Very funny - I love the "stalking him from gate to gate affecting a casual insouciance" line. I'm relieved to see the 'Rubber freaks' idea is discarded! I have to boast though, as we seem to be predominantly red around these parts!
